Per la prima volta all’Eurovision Song Contest, Mia Dimsic rappresenterà la Croazia portando un brano cantato in lingua inglese per la prima volta. Abbiamo fatto quattro chiacchiere con Mia Dimsic.
In attesa di seguire in diretta sulla nostra pagina ufficiale facebook, martedì 10, giovedì 12 e sabato 14, dalle 20.00 gli speciali dedicati a ESC2022, Matolas ha incontrato Mia Dimsic in gara con il brano “Guilty pleasure”.
Ecco quello che ci ha raccontato Mia Dimsic (dopo il video, la versione in inglese):
“Diamo il benvenuto a Mia Dimsic, che rappresenta la Croazia all’Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Cosa ti aspetti da questa tua partecipazione?”
Mi aspetto di vivere una nuova avventura musicale e l’opportunità di essere vista e ascoltata da così tante persone. Tutte le persone che ho incontrato durante questo Eurovision, le interviste fatte, le altre delegazioni e partecipanti che ho conosciuto, fanno tutte parte di questa folle esperienza che sto vivendo. Spero di continuare ad incontrare persone fighissime e di divertirmi in questa esperienza a 360°; non penso troppo a quello che succederà durante la gara.
“Raccontaci ora un po’ del tuo brano “Guilty pleasure”? Sappiamo che è nata in inglese, ma ci sarà anche una versione croata e italiana. Come hai scelto questo brano per l’Eurovision?”
Avevo già pronta la canzone ma non stavo programmando di partecipare alle finali nazionali della Croazia quest’anno. Quando ho scelto di parteciparci ho scelto la canzone che mi piaceva di più tra quelle che avevo già pronte. Sono stata molto fortunata a vincere e mi ha permesso di affacciarmi a tutto un nuovo mondo per me, perché sto conoscendo tante trasmissioni e persone al di fuori del mio paese che stanno sentendo la mia canzone. Sì, confermo che sto preparando sia la versione italiana che croata.
“Sei mai stata in Italia prima d’ora? Conosci qualche parola e artista italiano? Con chi ti piacerebbe collaborare per un duetto?”
Sono stata in Italia tantissime volte: sono stata in un gruppo folkloristico quando ero giovane e siamo stati a Venezia, poi ho suonato in un’orchestra e sono stata in Sicilia e ho quindi fatto l’Italia da nord a sud. L’anno scorso sono ho fatto la turista in Toscana. Non sono mai stata però a Torino, anche se l’Italia e la Croazia credo siano molto simili; la cultura e il cibo sono così vicini al mio cuore. Mi piacciono tanti artisti italiani ma tra tutti Laura Pausini, che è la motivazione per cui sono così felice di essere all’Eurovision, incontrandola dal vivo dato che presenterà l’evento.
“Oltre alla tua, quali sono le canzoni in gara che ti piacciono di più? C’è qualcuna che temi?”
Mi piacciono tante canzoni in gara quest’anno: tra tutte “Brividi” di Mahmood e Blanco, la canzone della Svezia, Ochman della Polonia e quella dei Paesi Bassi. Sarà una gara molto intensa soprattutto tra le ballad che quest’anno sono numerosissime. Credo sarà molto difficile anche per la giuria scegliere.
“Purtroppo stiamo vivendo dei tempi orribili a causa di questa incredibile guerra in Ucraina. Cosa vuoi dire a riguardo? Credi che la musica possa salvare e unire il mondo?”
La musica ha sempre fatto parte di queste crisi mondiali: è in queste occasioni che dobbiamo affidarci all’arte, perché l’arte è tutto fuorché violenza e conflitto. Molte persone pensano che l’Eurovision sia solo uno show dove c’è tanta follia e divertimento; ma c’è molto di più. Si tratta anche di empatia e solidarietà tra differenti culture e conoscere tanti nuovi amici in giro per il mondo. Credo che quest’anno abbiamo tutti bisogno dell’Eurovision affinché diffonda questo messaggio a tutto il suo vasto pubblico e affinché faccia da eco per portare pace e non sostenere aggressioni di alcun tipo.
“E ora è il tuo momento per l’APPELLO A FARTI VOTARE: puoi dire quello che vuoi per avere foto da tutta Europa!”
Grazie mille! E’ davvero straordinario e un grande onore e privilegio far parte dell’Eurovision Song Contest. Sono così felice di conoscere tante nuove persone da ogni parte del mondo. Se a qualcuno piacerà la mia canzone e sarà toccato in qualche modo dal messaggio contenuto in essa, io sarò assolutamente appagata già, perché è questo il primo tassello per un’artista: condividere la musica con gli altri. Chiunque volesse darmi un voto perché gli piace la canzone, o me o qualsiasi altra cosa della mia performance; vi ringrazierò tanto e vi auguro di divertirvi tantissimo quest’anno.
“Please welcome Mia Dimsic, who represents Croatia for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. What do you expect from your participation?”
I expect the new musical adventure and the opportunity to be seen and heard by so many people and all the people that I have meet through Eurovision, the interviews I have done, the other delegations and participants that I have meet it has been a crazy part of this experience. I hope to keep meeting cool people and enjoy this experience all in all, no matter what happen during the contest.
“Would you like to talk about your song “Guilty pleasure”? We know that it is born in English, but it will have a Croatian and an Italian version too. How did you choose it for the ESC?”
I already had the song ready, I wasn’t planning on going to Croatia national finally this year. And when I did I chose the song I like the most at the time out of the song I had ready. I had the incredible luck to win the competition and it opened up a whole new world for me because it had so much airtime and many people outside of my country got to listen to my song. I am preparing the Italian version as well as the Croatia one too.
“Have you ever been in Italy before? Do you know some words and artists in Italian? Whom would you like to do a duet?”
I have been to Italy many times. I was in a folklore ensemble when I was younger, we went to Venice than later on I was playing in an orchestra and we went to Sicily and then we got to travel from north to south and then last year as a tourist in Tuscany. But I have never been to Turin. Italy and Croatia are very similar and the culture and food is so close to my heart. I love many Italian artists, but I love Laura Pausini and that is why I am so excited to go to Eurovision this year to meet her as she is the host.
“A part for your, which song in the competition do you like the most? And whom are you scared about?”
I really like a lot of song this year I love the Italian, Swedish and polish and Netherlands entry. It will be a tough competition between the ballads this year is a ballad-heavy competition. It will be very tough this year for the jury to decide.
“We’re all living bad times with this incredible war. What would you like to say about it? Could the music save and unite the world?”
Music has always been such an important part of these world crisis. It is in these times that we should turn to art as such because art is anything but violence and conflict. A lot of people think that Eurovision is about being crazy and having fun. But it is much more, it’s about empathy and solidarity between different cultures and there are so many different friends from all over the world. I think this year especially we need Eurovision, to shed lights on this topic, we should mention it and we should use Eurovision as such a visible media that everybody is talking about to send out a message of peace and of not supporting aggression in no way.
“And now it’s your time to CALL TO VOTES! Say what you want in order to receive votes from all over Europe!”

If anyone likes my song and relates to it feels emotionally touched by it, I am the happiest because that is the whole point of being an artist is sharing your love for music with others.
