Proseguono le video interviste ai protagonisti dell’edizione 2021 dell’Eurovision Song Contest con Samanta Tina, la rappresentante della Lettonia per il secondo anno consecutivo, dopo il rinvio dell’anno scorso.
In attesa di seguire in diretta su Radio Music Evolution, martedì 18, giovedì 20 e sabato 22, dalle 20.30 gli speciali dedicati a ESC2021, Matolas & Claudia hanno incontrato Samanta Tina in gara con il brano “The moon is rising”.
Ecco quello che ci ha raccontato Samanta Tina (dopo il video, anche la versione in inglese):
“Diamo il benvenuto a Samanta Tina, che rappresenterà la Lituania all’Eurovision Song Contest 2021. Finalmente sarai sul palco della Ahoy Arena; cosa ti aspetti dalla tua partecipazione?”
Grazie mille ragazzi! Sono molto contenta e non vedo l’ora di mettere piede sul palco dopo tutta questa situazione mondiale incredibile. Aspetto il momento in cui salirò sul palco, prenderò il microfono e canterò per celebrare la musica. Penso sia un miracolo avere ora la possibilità di cantare su un palco così importante e grande dopo questo periodo così incredibile; sarà sicuramente una grande festa!
“Il tuo brano “The moon is rising” è un incoraggiamento per le donne a non avere paura di niente e di fare con le proprie mani una corona da mettersi in testa. Ci racconti come mai hai scelto questo brano perl’Eurovision?”
Questo tema è importantissimo per me e lo vedo in ogni singolo giorno nella nostra società. Io sono assolutamente per l’uguaglianza: ogni differenza è unica e particolare e dobbiamo accettare noi stessi; ciascuno con le proprie peculiarità. Non dobbiamo giudicare gli altri per le differenze perché non c’è il cattivo o il buono; solo tu puoi accettarti e quindi metterti con le proprie mani una corona sulla testa.
Dopo che avevo pubblicato il brano è successa una cosa stranissima in Lettonia: ho visto tanta negatività venire fuori quando è stata trasmessa una scena di due ragazze che si baciavano per pochi secondi. “E’ incredibile, è troppo strano, perché lo stanno facendo?” erano i commenti che sentivo dalle persone ma io volevo urlare “Siamo tutti uguali! Respiriamo la stessa aria, siamo sotto la stessa luna, paghiamo le stesse tasse!… Dobbiamo rispettarci perché siamo tutti unici!”
“Sappiamo che hai girato il video con il tuo cellulare e sei stata la regista di te stessa. Come è stato autodirigersi? Sei una regista molto severa?”
Dio mio! Sono decisamente una maniaca del controllo! Ma non lo sto combattendo, anzi sto imparando ad accettarlo e abbracciare questo mio modo così severo di lavorare. La mia squadra a volte fatica a lavorare con me perché chiedo un aiuto ma poi faccio sempre come voglio io… Come musicista ho avuto brutte esperienze in passato che mi hanno reso più forte.
Per questo la persona migliore di cui posso fidarmi è me stessa e se c’è qualcosa che andrà storto l’unica persona che potrò criticare sarò io! Quando si tratta dei miei video musicali, sono responsabile al 100% e i produttori si preoccupano sempre dicendomi “Oh mio Dio Samanta! Ok ok … inspira ed espira!” Ma va bene così, ne sono felice!
“A parte la tua canzone, qual è il tuo brano preferito quest’anno? Sei rimasta in contatto con i partecipanti dell’anno scorso che sono nuovamente in gara quest’anno?”
Assolutamente! Sono molto contenta che molti partecipanti dell’anno scorso siano stati riconfermati per questo 2021; lo trovo corretto. Con alcuni ci siamo incontrati in Svezia lo scorso 7 Marzo e mi ha fatto molto piacere. Non posso dirvi quale sia il mio brano preferito perché ho bisogno di vedere come renderanno tutti live. Sono un’artista che dà tantissimo nella performance live; sul palco non so di preciso cosa potrei fare… E’ una questione di energia che si sviluppa durante il live; dopo averle viste tutte vi saprò dire quale preferisco.
Nel live non ci sono trucchi, proprio perché si è dal vivo! So che la mia voce è molto potente e spesso quando sono in sala d’incisione mi chiedono di calmarmi, la riempiono di compressore nella fase di editing, ma sul palco voglio sentire tutta la mia voce. Ci saranno tanti differenti paesi, nazioni ed energie che sarà incredibile!

Grazie mille per tutto il supporto! Non vedo l’ora di essere sul palco di Rotterdam. Non vado lì per combattere, ma per celebrare insieme la salute e l’amore per la musica! Siamo tutti musicisti e non possiamo vivere senza la musica. Supporterò anche i Maneskin perché la loro canzone è fantastica. Credo e spero che andrà tutto bene e pregherò affinché tutti siano contenti e soddisfatti della loro performance. Ciao!

Thank you guys! I am really happy. I cannot wait for that moment when I am gonna step on that stage, and after all this crazy situation in the world I am gonna finally step on the stage, take this mic and I am gonna sing and we all gonna celebrate this music. It is kind of a miracle that we have the chance after all this crazy times to go on this big stage. For me it is gonna be a big celebration.
“Your song “The moon is rising” is an empowerment for woman to have fear nothing and to put a crown on their heads, made by her own hands. Do you want to tell us why you chose it for the Eurovision?”
This theme is important for me; I see it every single day in society. I am for equality that all our differences are all uniqueness. We must accept ourselves, we must except everyone that is a bit different. We cannot judge them for being different, there is no bad or good, only you can accept yourself so put your hands on your head and crown yourself.
After my music release it was crazy what happen in my country. A lot of negativity happens when they saw the scene of two girls kissing for 2 seconds everyone said “It is crazy, it is too weird, why are you doing this?” But I was like “We are all the same, we breath the same air, we are under the same moon, we pay the same taxes”… we are all unique!
“We know that your video was shot with your mobile phone, directed by yourself. How was it to be the director yourself? Were you a strict director?”
Oh my God! I am totally a control-freak, I am not arguing with that and I am not fighting that. I am embracing that, my team struggles sometimes to work with me because ‘you want help but at the end you do it your way’… As a musician I had bad experiences in the past that made me stronger.
The best person that I can trust is myself and if there is something that will go wrong the only person I can blame will be me! When it comes with my music videos I am all 100% in charge and the producers are like “Oh my god Samanta! Ok ok… breath in and breath out” But that’s fine, I am happy with that!
“Apart from your song, which are your favorite one of this year? Are you still in contact during this year with the participants of the last year, still in this edition?”
Yes I am really glad about those participant that are again here in 2021 because it is just fair to be here again. I met some of them in Sweden on the 7th of March and I am really happy about them. I cannot tell you that there is one favourite song. I am a performance artist so when I am going on stage I don’t know what I will be doing! So it is all about the energy on the live performances and then after that I can tell you what I will like!
It is all about the energy on the live performance, there is no fakes at all because it is live! I know that my voice is really loud so in recording they ask me to calm down and put loads of compressor on the editing but on stage live I want to hear my voice! And it is all different countries and different energies it is gonna be so fabulous!
