Sarà uno dei protagonisti della prima semifinale dalla Liverpool Arena, Remo Forrer rappresenterà la Svizzera all’Eurovision Song Contest 2023 con il brano intitolato “Waterguns”.
In attesa di scoprire cosa succederà durante le dirette della 67° edizione, che seguiremo in diretta facebook sul nostro canale live dalle 20.30, Matolas ha intervistato Remo Forrer in gara con il brano “Waterguns”.
Ecco quello che ci ha raccontato Remo Forrer durante l’intervista (dopo il video la versione in inglese):
“Diamo il benvenuto a Remo Forrer, che rappresenterà la Svizzera all’Eurovision Song Contest 2023. Cosa ti aspetti da questa tua partecipazione?”
Sinceramente, spero di arrivare fino in finale e di ottenere un buon risultato nella classifica finale!
“Parliamo del brano che porti in gara, “Waterguns”: c’è un messaggio molto importante contenuto all’interno della canzone, specialmente in questi giorni e mesi a causa di quest’orribile guerra in Ucraina che purtroppo continua…”
La canzone è un appello per la pace. Avevo sentito “Waterguns” lo scorso Settembre e mi aveva colpito moltissimo. Racconta la storia di un ragazzo che gioca con una pistola d’acqua quando è bambino, e che da adulto si ritrova in guerra a combattere per il proprio paese, la propria casa e la propria famiglia. E’ una storia molto triste e mi ha toccato molto: ho 21 anni e sono molto giovane, ma a quest’età qui in Svizzera si entra nell’esercito e mi ha fatto pensare che così vicino alla Svizzera ci fossero persone che combattono ogni giorno per la libertà e la pace. Ho quindi capito che fosse la canzone più giusta da portare sul palco dell’Eurovision quest’anno.
“Hai vinto la terza edizione di The Voice of Switzerland ma hai dovuto esibirti nella tua performance, da casa, in quarantena… Com’è stata tutta l’esperienza?”
Le prime puntate sono state normali, ma poi è arrivata la chiusura totale, con il lockdown e quindi tutto il resto del programma l’ho fatto cantando dal mio salotto. E’ stata un’esperienza molto strana, ma nonostante questo molto divertente.
“Quali sono i tuoi artisti preferiti, quelli che hanno ispirato la tua carriera? Con chi ti piacerebbe collaborare in futuro?”
Direi assolutamente James Arthur, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendez e Lewis Capaldi. A proposito c’è un aneddoto divertente che voglio raccontarti: due settimane fa, ho fatto un box domande su Instagram e qualcuno mi ha chiesto con chi avrei voluto duettare. Ho scritto James Arthur e dopo alcuni minuti lui ha iniziato a seguirmi e mi ha mandato un breve messaggio. E’ uno dei giorni più belli della mia vita, che ricorderò sempre. Magari se vinco all’Eurovision potrebbe veramente fare un duetto con me… (sorride)
“A parte il tuo brano, qual è la canzone in gara che ti piace di più? C’è qualcuno che temi nella gara?”
Sicuramente “Burning daylights” dei Paesi Bassi, ma anche “Tattoo” di Loreen è davvero incredibile. Mi piace molto anche la canzone dei Joker Out, hanno davvero uno stile incredibile. Devo dire che ci sono tantissimi brani molto belli quest’anno.
“Ed ora è il tuo momento CALL TO VOTES! Puoi dire quello che vuoi per cercare di farti votare da tutta Europa!”
Voglio innanzitutto dire grazie per tutto il supporto che sto ricevendo da tutto il mondo. Su Instagram mi arrivano decine di messaggi bellissimi e sono davvero contento ed onorato di fare parte di quest’avventura. Ma se vi fa piacere anche votarmi e votare per la Svizzera, sarebbe bellissimo!

“Would you like to talk about your song “Waterguns”? There is a very important message in it… especially during these days with this horrid war in Ukrain that is still going on…”
The song is an appeal for peace. I have heard “Waterguns” last September and i got so emotional. It tells a story of a boy that was playing with water gun as a child and he is now in the war and he has to fight for his country, his home, his family. It is a very sad story. I was thinking about it because I am 21 and I am very young but this is the age you go to the military here in Switzerland and got me thinking that there are people fighting so close to Switzerland. That was the moment I was sure that was the song i wanted to bring to the big Eurovision stage.
“You won the third season of The Voice of Switzerland but I’ve heard that you have to play your performance in quarantine… How was the whole experience?”
The first shows were all normal but then quarantine hit and for the rest of the show, we performed in our living room. It was a weird experience but also fun.
“Which are your favorite artists, that inspire your career? Whom would you like to duet with?”
I think it will be definitely James Arthur, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendez and Lewis Capaldi. I want to tell you something, that happened 2 weeks ago: I did a Q&A on Instagram and someone asked me the same question and I wrote James Arthur and just few minutes later he started following me and he send me a brief message and it made my day. Maybe if I gonna win the Eurovision, James will duet with me…
“A part for your, which song in the competition do you like the most? And whom are you scared about?”
“Burning daylights” from the Netherlands, “Tattoo” by Loreen is amazing as well. I also like the song from Joker Out, they have a cool vibe. There are very many good songs this year.
