“Siete mai stati in Italia prima d’ora?

Cosa volete dire a riguardo?

“Please welcome the Kalush Orchestra who represents Ukraine for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. What do you expect from your participation?”

We want to show Ukrainians on Eurovision night that they are not alone, that all
Europe is watching us fighting in this brutal war and supporting us. That there is
no other way, we will win.

“Would you like to talk about your song “Stefania”? How did you choose it for the Eurovision?”

“Stefania” is a song written for mother, long before the war. I have never
dedicated a song to her, but it is something I wanted to do for a long time. My
mother lives in Kalush, my hometown in the Western part of Ukraine. This is
the best thing I ever done for her. After the Russians invaded, many people started to look for an additional meaning in it.

For example, those who are sad that they can’t see their mother right now. That’s why the song is now in the hearts and ears of Ukrainians. Also, “Stefania” expanded its meaning to all mothers who care for their children and protect them from the scourge of war. From the song about a mother, it has become the song about the motherland.

“You were in second place at your National Final, but after the withdrawal of Alina Pash you became the representatives of Ukraine. Did you expect this?”

Of course, as in every music competition, we participated in order to win. If Alina Pash represented Ukraine now, we would now support her with the whole team of the Kalush Orchestra. With the start of the war, feelings were mixed. But, we understand that it is through our activities that we can be useful to our country. Through our music we are able to deliver the message to the huge Eurovision audience. This is our way to be useful to our country.

“In the band there is also Ihor that he’s a part of Go_A. Did he give you some advice for the Eurovision?”

One of the main rules he made for himself and recommended to my colleagues from the Kalush Orchestra is to be honest with your listeners and to approach the preparation of the issue responsibly. Given the current events, the war in Ukraine, it was one of the most difficult tasks for all of us to rehearse offline.

“Have you ever been to Italy before? Do you know some Italian artists whom you would like to do a duet with?”

No, this is my first time in Italy. But very impressed by the atmosphere and beauty of this country. As for the artists, of course I heard the song rock band Måneskin, who are very supportive of Ukraine, for which we are grateful.

“A part for your song, which one in the competition do you like the most? Are you scared of everybody saying you are given as favorites?”

We believe in our song, all her parts, right now it reflects the spirit of the time. And we feel the incredible support of the world community, who like our song. In addition, even before the war, according to bookmakers, we were in the top with our song.

“We’re all living bad times with this incredible war, especially you and your country. What would you like to say about it? Could music save and unite the world?”

Don’t pretend that the war in Ukraine that is happening now is a distant movie you are watching. Something that is far away. Ukraine is the center of Europe, and this brutal war is happening exactly there. When you wake up and hear explosions. When you don’t know if your parents, your friends, your relatives are still alive. This experience drives you crazy, it destroys your mental health. The faster we come together, the more people will help, the faster the war will end.

And not spread to other countries. Music is something that gives strength to each of us, supports us spiritually. I hope you will hear our new tracks soon and they will be something special for everyone.

“And now it’s your time to CALL TO VOTES! Say what you want in order
to receive votes from all over Europe!”

We do not want to win for ourselves, we want to win for all Ukrainians. Watch
our performance in the final and support with your votes!
